Anferra's Recycling Solution Recognized with Renova Environmental Scholarship
March 11, 2025
Solving the Grinding Sludge Challenge: Every year, the Swedish steel industry generates thousands of tons of grinding sludge, a fine-grained residue from the manufacturing of ball bearings, cutting tools, and other high-precision components. This waste is classified as hazardous and is difficult to process, which is why it is usually landfilled.
Anferra's technology offers a fundamentally different route. By recovering ferric chloride and hydrogen from the sludge, we transform a costly disposal problem into a source of clean-water and green-energy resources.
Recognizing Scalable Real-World Impact: The Renova Environmental Scholarship is awarded to individuals and projects that show a clear ability to translate ideas into scalable environmental benefits — from strong scientific foundations to strong potential for implementation. This recognition affirms the maturity of our approach and its readiness for the next steps.
A Step Forward for the Circular Economy: This scholarship reinforces Anferra's mission and helps highlight the relevance of our technology, including circular flows for hazardous waste. It also brings visibility to our approach and the collaborative network we're building across the steel, chemistry, and water industries.
We express our gratitude to Renova and everyone else that has supported us along the way.
